If going out in the backcountry for a few days, will you pack an extra pair of socks and an extra pair of underwear? Is it worth the extra ounces?
I hate wet feet and feel a dry pair of socks can really make my feet feel better...and you never know when a Peak meal might hit rock bottom too fast...but I don't want to pack my fears, lol....

I'll often pack another pair of socks when I'm going to be out more than ~4-5 days. Having a fresh pair of socks for the last 2-3 days makes a big difference. I've also packed a warmer or lighter pair of socks when I anticipate a big weather change during a trip i.e. its going to be relatively warm for the first 4 days but then its going to snow for the last 3.

I bring an extra pair of socks and rotate daily, and in case of unexpectedly soaking my boots in a stream or in really wet grass (mornings). Wet feet/socks are no good, especially in cold weather. Worth the weight in my opinion.

Underwear and t-shirts can be worn several days in the field (turn them inside out if you want to), but I bring a new pair of socks for every day as long as they fit in the bag. My feet can’t ever be too dry or too cozy.

Foot care is everything in my opinion and I’m ok with packing extra pairs. I sweat so it’s not uncommon for me to change into dry ones during the day and letting the other ones dry out. For me if I am going out for 5 days I will have 3 or 4 pairs depending on the weather. I also pack foot powder so I am not an ounce counter my fix for packing a little extra weight is to be in better shape. I typically carry 2 pair of underwear and keep one pair just for sleeping in. Wet wipes and Fresh Balls really help the groin area.

I also switch socks mid day even for a single day hunt. My feet sweat a lot. For more than a couple day trips I’ll have 4 pair of socks and liners. I’ll air dry as much as I can then toss them into the sleeping bag to cook dry for a night or two.

I chafe bad so if I can handle the weight and space I’ll take a pair per day and if it’s a long trip rotate 3-4 and try to give them a good rinse in a stream then dry before the next use.
Daily dude wipes and glide

Don't forget there are liner socks too! I bring a pair just to sleep in to keep my bag cleaner. They're cheap, weigh nothing, take up no space, dry fast, merino wool (or silk if that's your thing). Some are synthetic blends but I find them to be more like an actual sock and don't think I understand how they are possibly considered liners (i.e. Kenetrek liners). Then they can become a primary sock if need be while yours dry. I'd still bring a spare boot sock too though. Live a little 😅

I just get REI brand merino liners. Think they're like $15.

I think the socks aren't a bad idea. Fresh socks can be a game changer, like someone else said you gotta take care of the feet.

I used to pack both, I found I hardly ever used the extra underwear. Socks however go in a rotation like others have said. Starting the day with dry feet is helpful.

Socks yes. Underwear no. Use First Lite wick merino briefs.

I rotate socks everytime we take a longer break. Strap the damp pair on the back of my pack to dry out.

Socks are my luxury item. I plan 2days per socks and over 5 days I have one extra. Many Times I rotate at lunch.

Underwater is probably the most expensive piece of clothing for what it is I have but I run the 5” inseam go ruck ranger panties, I carry 2 per 6 days. All synthetic and wash out easy and dry ultra fast

You running commando under the Ranger panties?

While I do count ounces, not when it comes to my feet. I always carry extra socks of various weights even for a day hunt. I always plan to change out my socks at least once a day if I'm going to be putting miles on them. They can be rotated especially if there's a nearby stream where I can rinse them and then hang them to dry. I also carry small ziploc (dime size) bags of foot powder (monkey butt). The foot powder weighs virtually nothing and takes up less space. Take care of your feet!

I exclusively use wool briefs when hunting. As others have said, you can turn them inside out. I'll likely carry an extra pair if I'm going to be out for more than a night. They don't weigh enough or take up enough space not to.

I just bring extra socks. I don’t wear drawers to begin with so no need to pack an extra pair. However, with that being said, if I’m doing an outing over a few days I do bring a pair of silk shorts to sleep in. I pair it with an extra base layer and I sleep pretty good.

2-3 days out? Nope. Beyond 3 days I'll have 1-2 extra pairs of socks and boxers to wear. That way, I can wash and rotate things if needed.
