This thread is great! Anyone do this in the national forests in Vermont or New Hampshire?
I do it in VT. I haven't shot anything as you can't legally pack them out. They've got to come out whole. I see issues with that as I'd have to go up and down a bunch of screeish stuff full of hobblebush and then up 300 feet and down a very steep 800 for a total of a couple miles. It'd have to be actually big and not big for VT, and I'd have to call everyone I know to get it out. I do see a lot for hunting in VT. Basically I pack in before a snow storm and the orange tracking army. I take a tree sling. The deer are pretty used to being tracked and it's kind of a futile gesture in the area compared to say Maine based on behavior when I've done it. They just all are heading out away from the people coming in from all sides to get to where I'm at and it's kind of impossible to get them out from. If you're tracking and they realize it they just put the sneak on.
