Getting started on White Tail

Only advice is to find what you love and expand upon that. I love to work hard and be outdoors, thus I choose tough hunts not because I will be successful but because my belief is that few others will even take on the task. Beyond that when you are successful it only enhances your desire to master your craft.

Never thought about it this way, the predominant message that I see online is not to go in to your hunting areas too close to the season as this may spook deer. But that might be more focused on bowhunting vs gun hunting? Appreciate the insight. I'm hunting out of Southern Ontario (Canada), mainly public woods (100+ acres), trying to gain access to some private farmland as well.

Gun hunting for me will be with a shotgun using a savage 220 1x6 scope, shots out to 100 yards until I improve my marksmanship, we get 1-2 weeks from early November (depending on the WMU).

Southern Ontario? Any agricultural? The big woods if it’s like northern Wisconsin/Minnesota are tough to hunt

I try to get away from other hunters as much as possible. This allows the deer to act more natural and helps me pattern them better. Boots on the ground is always to best way to scout and time in the woods during season is the best teacher.
