Baby its Cold Outside! What's your temp?

In Casper it was right around 30F about 9am, it’s -15F with 30-40 mph winds. This weather sucks.

Got sent down to Buffalo from Sheridan to work today....now I'm stuck here all night. -18 now with a stiff wind.

hobbes: it's not to play cowboy, it's the cheap resident elk tags. Spouses will love it.
Two years of licenses could likely cover the moving expenses, considering what we charge for a NR elk license. :)
But.....wifey better be okay with the cold. Last year was barely a winter so a lot of new folks were saying "this isn't so bad". This fall and winter seems destined to set the record straight. :)

No doubt in my mind that there is not another 5 months anywhere on the planet that can compete with May - September in Alaska. Throw in some pretty fun winter stuff and the best OTC hunting maybe anywhere on the planet and I'm staying right where I'm at even if my ass wasn't frozen to the ground. My wife has drug me against my will to enough warm places during the winter to know dealing with the concentration of people in them places is not worth the weather tradeoff for me. It can get a hell of a lot colder than it does now before I go anywhere else!

Anyways, just a reminder to everyone that we start losing daylight in 6 months!

According to the NWS it's warmed to a balmy -16 with sunshine and a sharp breeze giving us a wind-chill of -36. The digital thermometer that I have at home is showing -9 but I never trust it.

What I can confirm is it's cold and the breeze isn't pleasant. However, I don't think it currently qualifies as ,"freaking" cold and I think I could wait for a school bus if necessary and I didn't forget my coat and pants.

My truck did just start, but sounded a little sluggish turning over and I may have an additional crack in the windshield. Windshield cracks are something you have to get used to in Montana and Colorado. (Probably all mountain states) I'm planning to let my truck warm up for roughly 4 hours before going into town (not really). :) If I didn't need to finish up my wife's Christmas gift, I'd stay home. However, I plan to win a bunch of points with a remote start for her Crosstrek, especially in this weather.

There's a big cold snap coming to much of the country - It would be cool to see what temps you are seeing on Wednesday/Thursday

Post the temp and your closest town when the mercury drops

Been mild on the Or coast, it was 28 a couple mornings ago which is cold for here, pain in the rear for awhile that morning fishing, constant ice buildup in the guides.

It’s going to get messy tomorrow here, supposed to get down to 23* tonight then the east wind is going to fire up, and around 1pm tomorrow, freezing rain is going to join the party.

If the forecast holds true, it’s going to be ugly, we had a similar situation a couple years ago and it made a mess.

Luckily, we are heading down south today to our house on the south coast and it’s not going to get below 40* down there… as long as no trees fall on our house, or more importantly, my little jet sled, I’ll be happy.

It will close out a lot of roads if the forecast is true, and that’s low priority here, there are still roads you can’t get down from the ice storm a couple years ago… I keep my little stihl power saw in my pickup always in the winter though, kind of necessary around here in general

My sis in law lives in the east part of the state and it’s been subzero over there a lot lately

Balmy 21 here in SE Nebraska at 1455. We're locking up horses and tightening door latches tonight though.

Supposed to be around -20 tonight before wind chill. Weekend going to be above freezing for the first time in a few weeks. Looking forward to things thawing out a little.

Couple of back to back cold winters will fix the new resident issue. Mild winters just encourage them.

-55 wind chill and blowing snow here today in our little piece of paradise.
Buffalo WY is closest town.
Lost power for several hours this morning.

Where my father in law lives in Wyoming, on the edge of the black hills… Currently -25 F and wind chills coming in at below -60 F tomorrow and Friday.

Different strokes for different folks. I don't mind winter. Have zero desire to live somewhere without four seasons.
