I drew the 7W late rifle for elk. I've got no time to scout and will be arriving only a day or two early. It's just he way it is with young kids and living 20 hours away. Any suggestion, specific or general, on where to camp where I'd be close to Sitgreaves and Kendrick? I'd like to be fairly centeral to those two but not be screwed if it snowed a ton. We'll have a small wall tent essentially, sidebyside, and a trailer.

The KOA in Williams is great. Book early. A bit out of your way but if you’re bringing kids and camper that’s a great spot.

When I was there a couple years ago on a late hunt FR 171 was in great shape. It’s an improved gravel road and anywhere along it from north of Flag to South of Pumpkin Center there were a lot of good camp sites. Good luck

I thought about that. I think that might be a a touch too far away for us. I want to be able to leave straight from camp in the side-by-side if necessary.

Can you access Sitgreaves well from that road?

Yes, Trailheads on the east side but there are also roads all the way around the peak that lead into several of the drainages. No shortage of roads in that unit and with a side by side you should be able to go just about anywhere. We actually stayed in a VRBO in Williams which is where most of the elk were that time of year. We only got snow on the last day of the season but it wasnt much. It was in the single digits at night and every water hole was froze up solid. Weather can be vastly different each day in that area.

That's what I've heard. . What do you mean the elk were at Williams? Like nearby?

Do any of you know if there is a good place/area to camp by Sitgreaves? I'm looking for something that I can still drive to Kendrick and some of the northern part of the unit without it being a 2 hour drive. Maybe 74 or over by Government Hill?
