Average cost of a Moose hunt

You’re trying to help the guy by bringing up an outfitter that doesn’t have a website, doesn’t respond and no info on the internet? Then you try to use a recordbook that takes genetically modified, drugged up pets as records to prove your point?

To answer your question read my other post above about imaginary lines. But I’m guessing the stack of 52 is missing a few.
I have first hand info and a contact number from a long time buddy that just got back from the hunt. It is available. You are acting like the link i "copied and pasted" from another member is not accurate. I have not seen a single helpful post from you on the topic of outfitters. It was also another member that decided to make a SA comment on my post about not being any "Shiras moose in Canada as your first clue". That link was related to that. Carry on, your bus is waiting for you.

I do a DIY moose hunt in Alaska every couple years. I spend no where near what others are saying. Group of 6

$6 Airfare-last year . I have a alaska airlines card and use points.
$200 Shuttle service round trip
$1,000 license
$500 raft rental
$150 1st and last night hotel
$0 moose processing. Connect with local families in need. They help process and vac seal I give them meet. They supply everything
$100 oversize bag fee for antlers
$ 450 checked meat boxes

I plan $3200 door to door. 17days total. 2 weeks in the bush on a raft. From Pennsylvania

Wow you have got that figured out I never would guess a hunt like that could be done for $3200

I did a full 3 week, fly in float trip to ANWR via Fairbanks. Drove from Washington to Fairbanks, my own gear, raft ect... flew w/ Wright, Hunted moose and caribou, tagged out. That one was about $12.5K with a few nights hotel, gas, everything and was gone exactly 31 days.

My last couple were float trips off a road system.... my hunting partner lives a couple hrs from Anchorage... those trips are cheap... Airfare, tags, gas and food, leave me gear at his place permanently... about $2k per trip but not a huge success rate.

It's all what you want out of the trip...

^ Yup.

DIY can be cheap. But most guys hit the easy button and hire a transporter like Papa Bear. You are paying for their knowledge and experience. Not sure how guys feel right labeling it as a DIY hunt. The hardest part of a moose area is figuring out WHERE and then HOW to access it. 🤣
This is all very true.

Bucket list hunt for me someday- great information and considerations us midwest guys never think of.

6 guys remember. That's $1200. Which is $600 each way. I have paid slightly more but this shuttle guy does well so we stuck with him. It's a float hunt. Road side drop off and pick up.

I guess I’m below average like usual

I stopped putting in for points when CPW added that point fee a few years back. A resident tag was a couple hundred in 2023 I reckon. I spent a couple hundred in gas per month for scouting in the summer and the normal freeze dried food I eat backpacking. I had the giarrdia medical expense right before season opened. I processed most of the bull, but I had a local processor do all the burger grinding. I’m guessing not over 1.5-2k when all done. I don’t think I’d do it again if I had the chance. Elk is enough of a pack out for me and not as tough a meat on the table.

There is a guy in Alberta doing a moose hunt for 5500.00. Wayne Zaft. I have not been able to find hardly any info on the hunt. A buddy of mine is there hunting now. I had a chance to take a cancellation spot and turned it down. No website and i know next to zero about Wayne. Other than he killed a giant whitetail a few years ago.
I think Zaft is trying to recoup the cost from all of the action figures he ordered after killing that record (not record) deer.
