Looking to get some advice here: 60 lbs draw weight, 29inch draw length, looking to build an arrow around 430-460+ grains. Should I go with a 350 or 400 spine? 125 grains head, if I add a 30 grain weight should I go for a stiffer spine?

Thanks!

I would go with a 350 for sure. I was shooting a 350 spine with 60 pounds at 29 inches but when I bumped up to 70 pounds, I had to go with 300. That was the best decision I made a my tuning of the bow was MUCH easier. I did some slow motion shoots of the arrow at 65 pounds and the flex on that poor arrow was significant (they all flex but dang). Now with broadheads there is very little change in my tuning.

My current setup is 60grain outsert and a 100 grain broadhead, so the stiffer spine was good for the FOC.

I would also suggest looking at Archer's Advantage website. They have a lot of software that can really help you dial in all kinds of things.

Good luck!!

I’ll join the others and say .350. .400 will be too soft with 125 up front. Not horribly but better to err on the side of overspined.

Very similar to my setup: 62lbs, 28.5” DL. I currently have long arrows to give myself room to play, 28.625” carbon to carbon .340 GT Pro Hunters with 10 grains extra up front, and 100 gr. head. It tunes very well. I’m planning to play around with 10-20 more grains up front and possibly shave 1”-1.5” off my arrow to stay within the spine and not sacrifice speed. I’ve blown trough everything except a hog’s spine with this arrow setup.

I’m also considering nano .166 shafts and adding 70-100 grains up front. This will likely push me to a .300 spine.

I use 28.5" 5mm 340's with 150gr heads out of my 60@29 bows. All ibo at 340 to 345 fps and all like the setup. They will also shoot 125gr heads with a 12gr collar as well.
