I’ve been shooting Black Eagle Instinct .166 with the 100 grain FOCOS insert/outset system for the last year and they’ve been great.

I’ve found components are the weak link with .166 shafts.

I started with hot melt for the inserts and found they would pull out in the summer. I switched to Insert Iron and I haven’t had an insert come out yet.

The FOCOS system is pretty good, I had to replace a few outsets once they got bent but it’s a pretty simple process and saves the arrow. I also found, the set screw that holds the outset comes loose and requires loctite.

I did notice a reduction in wind drift between .166 and .246 shafts.

I’ve got some Easton Axis .166 shafts with Eastons 150 grain match grade insert/outsert in the mail looking forward to trying them out!

I have gone back to wood, so 11/32 for me. I have shot the 204s, 246 in carbon and 2016/2018s in aluminum. I have always favored the fatter shafts. I am not sure why maybe I see them in my periferral vision better🤷‍♂️

What diameter arrows is everyone shooting? I’m looking at 204 or 246 and not sure what the advantages and disadvantages there are between these two. What experiences do y’all have?
Along with arrow sizes, what shafts come in 34 inch? I’ve found these so far:
Easton 5mm axis 200-260
Traditional only bare bow carbon 300 331 260
Black eagle vintage 350 400
Easton carbon legacy 340

Never got into the skinny shaft craze. Trad's supposed to be simple in my mind. I like carbon because they're durable. I hoarded several dozen CE 350s and have been using GT trads and Big Jim Dark Timber in 250 spine.
