I have it. Its in my nature. I'm OCD about arrow building...

Quick question for you guys. I just built a new set up based on new broadheads. The kicker is I have found my broadheads to weigh in between 119.x grains and 121.x grains. They are supposed to be 125g. My field points are all just a tenth or two over 125. Total arrow weight is 601-ish with the broadheads and 605-6ish with the field points. FOC is around 11.5%. Obviously, I will be shooting the field points all summer until the last month or so prior to elk season. For sighting purposes, would this weight discrepancy bother anyone? Should I do something to correct the difference, and if so how would you recommend doing so? This may be much-ado about nothing, but that darned Type A personality gets me every time.

I have a 32" draw, pulling 80#, shooting about 283 fps.

Increased wind drag may offset or even be more drop at long range than weight will cause.

I was adding %1 to the yardage with fixed blades for over 70 yards with my fixed blades last year.

I've never noticed much of a difference in point of impact until I approached a 25gr difference in head weight. I don't think you will notice 5 grs at all.

Exactly what I was thinking. Shoot them and see where poi is with each at distance.

Which broadheads are you using?

Sorry, i was off my computer last night. I'm not intending on this being a bashing on anyone's broadheads so I didn't want to throw that out there. PM me and I'll let you know.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I just need to get out and shoot a few and see what happens.

5g on a 600 gr arrow.....And I thought I was OCD.....

^ thats what I was going to say.

Now if you are really OCD you will index for spine....or number arrows and shoot for groups.....as spine consistency is way more important than a few grains of arrow weight.
EDIT; and perfect concentricity...crucial to get the ends of you shafts just right. Both of these issues are more important that a few grains.

It would bother me,even though it shouldn’t. But I’m just wired that way.
Try some of the Easton BARs
