great coues deer, question about your last comment in the original post. have you noticed a difference in quality of meat between coues and mule deer? if so, to you what is the major difference?

Hi Midwestern,

Yes, there's a big difference in taste. Ive eaten coues that were rutting and others that weren't, both tasted delicious. Not mid-western corn fed good, but really good and not gamey. Mule deer on the other hand, I don't care for. I can make it taste good by soaking it in milk, throwing a lot of spices on it, but I'd rather save time in the kitchen and just eat coues.

Sweeet !! And congrats, will be headed down late December for my 1st coues rifle, pretty pumped !! Nice buck by the way !!!

awesome deer. great write up. i need to get down there and try that some time. i love still hunting or stand hunting. those close encounters are special.
