Are you "country"!

I'd been a city boy my whole life, moved semi rural for a couple years in my late 30s, now im on the fringes of "outer suburbia/semi rural" in my very early 40s.

I don't and probably wont ever consider myself "country" in the, despite loving all things "country".

Also, I've always lived by the motto-
If you have to tell people what you are, you probably aren't.

**i assume its very different here in Australia compared to the states.

Until 2024 we had an outhouse and collected rainwater. We had highspeed fiber optic broadband internet 3 years before we had running water. Welcome to the Boston Mountains of NW Arkansas!
The year before last we trapped/killed/butchered 75 hogs and last year we did even more, but I lost track of the number north of 80. That doesn't count the dozens and dozens of deer and a couple of head of cattle butchered for our neighbors each year.
A few years ago I served bobcat and coyote tacos at a dinner party.
We still have the outhouse.
My biggest flathead is 39# caught on 6# line. We cleaned it in my kitchen.

Down here we can tell the trash from the local based upon how many Busch Light (the official beer of littering in the Ozarks!) cans they leave in their wake when driving around...

Geez, I hope I am country enough for this group. or redneck enough. Whichever.
Sounds like I need to come and take care of some of your hogs…

If you live it it’s just life not called being country. I don’t know if I’m necessarily country, but we do some things that others think are crazy/weird. I see some crazy stuff in the town we get our mail of 23 people. Sadly I think even the post office will shut down too.

While I have found that a higher percentage of "country" people are more my style that does not mean some aren't douche bags. The only kind of person you should strive to be is a good person. Doesn't matter what kind of good person.
