Are my arrows trashed?

Went to a public range and noticed this when I got home. Wiped them clean and saw bits of carbon flaking/peeling off. Axis 340's FYI. Would you still shoot them?

Are you sure that’s from the arrows? Take some acetone on a paper towel and wipe them down. It looks like it’s the target material that melts onto the shaft.

That's what I was afraid of. Sucks, those arrows had zero damage prior to shooting at those targets.

Find out why they delaminated before it happens with your new arrows. You might have some defective carbon.

I've shot arrows into some pretty sketchy stuff over the years and never had an issue of carbon peeling away from the arrows.......even Axis arrows. Billy's comment makes sense. I've used tips slightly larger than the arrows, but never smaller.

I dont shoot ANY carbon arrow that has ANYTHING wrong with it.

Not worth it.

When I see something wrong with an arrow I snap it in half and trash it so I dont accidentally use it.

Arrows are cheap, medical bills are not.

I wouldn’t shoot them, I use to shoot axis but in my experience they are extremely fragile arrows and don’t last very long.

Nope
When zooming in it looks like the tips could be pushing back on the carbon?

One of the reasons I like outserts with 4mm or 5mm shafts. Hidden inserts, D6 etc leave you more vulnerable to damage.

I would shoot them, take a small fine scotch pad and clean them off. I've had arrows look like that after shooting into targets stuffed with plastic as a filler. That is also one of the reasons I sold my axis, the outer coating comes off and they are dull and pick up debris off of the targets easily because of the added friction. I'm shooting victories now and they just get shinier and shinier the more you shoot them.

I think those pictures make them look way worse than they actually are, too many weird lines and cracks in the paint make the arrows look all deformed. I've never had an axis actually splinter at all, but they get very dull like that, and any plastic or paint from inside of a target or target face will stick to them.
