Archery sights .10 or .19

Shot .19 for years, back when that was all you could get. Bought a SH Fast Eddie with.10 pins and I liked it. Didn’t seem to halo as much for me. Now all my sights have .10 pins.

.10. You’ve always got a light or a rheostat (if the sight has one) to help with the brightness. If you’ve got a touch of target panic the smaller pin tends to exacerbate it

Went to .10s 7-8 years ago and I won’t go back until my eyes force me too

I prefer .019s for hunting. I swap the scope out for a single .010 during summer 3D season and then back to a three pin during hunting season.

The .019 pins are brighter, regardless of manufacturer and at first and last light that’s what matters most to me.

.19 for me. I did a custom pin size order on a spott hogg once with .29 for top pin, .19 for next 2 then .10 for bottom 2 pins. I competed with pins a ton in Field, indoor, and 3-D. I went back to all .19 for my sights after that one. My eyes are still great but I caught myself over aiming with the tiny pins.

Has anyone played with changing out the colors on your pins to help see better at low light? I am about to order some .010 and it gives me the option for which color. Just thought I would ask before spending some money.

Yup change fiber many times. In my experience green is the best option for hunting. Orange and red work but can get washed out in the fall. But grab multiple fibers and try different ones and see what you like best. Swapping fibers is easy and cheap. Just don’t make hard bends or kinks in fiber when swapping.

I’m severely red/green color blind and when fiber optic sights first came out I tried multiple colors with the thought going in that yellow would be the best and brightest for me. Years later after ordering a 5 pin Spot Hogg with green in the middle and yellow on the top and bottom 2 pins I figured out that green was the best and brightest, even with color blindness, so that’s what I use on all the pins now.

I run a 3 pin and the bottom is a slider. Top two are .19 and bottom slider is .10

Works well bc the .19 picks up more light during closing time

i have .019 on hunting set up since shooting 40 yards max but have .010 on 3D set up. will probably explore custom set up when i purchase a new sight

I second this
I shoot a Black Gold slider, top green .19 (20 yard), middle Red .19 (30), and my slider WAS yellow .19,, but would get washed out on animals and 3D targets.
I ordered a single green, .10, for my slider and it is MONEY
I'm convinced this is the perfect set up for all around hunting and 3D target.

I like .010 if you can use a light. If lights aren't legal then .019 for 4 pins and .010 for 5th pin for slider. I shoot much better groups with smaller pins and dimmer fiber, but .010 in dark conditions is hard to see without a light

Another one for .019 for most pins and .010 for the bottom pin. This is how I’ll set my next sight up. Tried a full .010 and it was a little too dim in low light.
