Euro optic is very legit. I have bought a handful of scopes from them.

Piston vs. direct impingement…it all depends on what your doing and the environment your in.

Ive ran an HK 416 (piston .556) for about 8 years and I personally really like that rifle. It was not suppressed and with the 10.5 barrel it had quite the bark but I got used to it. It was very durable and the piston system kept everything clean. If it had a can that would be a different story.

I‘ve also ran the Sig MCX (.556) for about 5 years. Also a piston gun, 11.5 inch barrel that was suppressed. Very smooth shooter, cycle rate on full auto was way faster than the HK. But this gun was very front heavy and not well balanced and after hours it really starts to wear on you. Cleaning the MCX was an absolute b!tch. It’s a pain to take the bolt apart and with the can (my first suppressed gun) everything on the internals got really dirty with minimal rounds fired. Many of the parts were proprietary too.

This is the long way of saying I’m going back to a DI rifle (KAC SR15). They are inherently more accurate, easier to clean, and they are lighter. Don’t have to worry about proprietary parts either. This one will be suppressed, so I’ll still run into the cleanliness issue. For me, and my environment that I work the piston gun isn’t worth the extra money and weight.

so I think I have decided on either a bcm recce 14 or a fn 16 inch rifle and either a t2 or comp4. I have found the fn but leaning towards the bcm and I cant find one. euro optics has both of the aimpoints so good to go there. Thanks for all the info guys.

My vote would be a 14.5” pinned BCM or Son of liberty gun works. My 12.5” BCM has been flawless over the last two years with 3500 rounds on it (mostly steel case) and over half of these being suppressed. I can remember one malfunction that I had in a training class where we were shooting under a vehicle and I believe a casing bounced back into the ejection port causing the issue.
I have an Aimpoint Pro on it and it has been equally reliable. FN also makes a great rifle so you can’t go wrong there.
I also highly recommend the LWRCI Skirmish sights, or anything from scalar works will be bomb proof.

BCM is a solid choice! They make good stuff.

If I could just find one. I was thinking maybe a supressor some day but with the cleaning issues as above I thought I would go without. not that it matters now, still gotta find one

If your going to go with a can you could always go up a caliber. A QD attached can in 30 cal. on a 556. Put the same QD on your hunting rifle and use the can for both….I’m assuming you have a hunting rifle in a large caliber.
Don’t let the cleaning issue dissuade you from a can. Just realize it will be more to clean.

The MCX was a pain weather it had a can or not…the can just added to the problem.

I personally like running a can.

Don't let that dissuade you. It is absolutely worth the headache. Even if those hoops shouldn't be there in the first place.
