I recently purchased a Remington custom model 7 SF in 7mm-08 Ackley improved. Looking for someone that has one and has a pet load that wouldn't mind sharing so I could try.
Thanks!

What kind of velocity difference are you gaining over a regular 7-08?

My regular Model Seven 7-08 with a 20" barrel likes Big Game powder and 140 grain Partitions with WLRM primers at 2860fps. It also likes Varget and 120 grain NBTs with WLRM primers at 3000fps.

Keep us posted on how it turns out.

48.5gr of H4350 under a 140 Accubond going 2875fps from a 20” barrel.
Also have a 120 TTSX over 42.5gr of H4895 for 3020fps.
My 7-08 Ackley isn’t any faster than a standard 7-08 that has a 22” barrel...
Long brass life and no trimming is nice. I’m getting 12 plus reloads before the primer pockets loosen up.
Two of my buddies have 22” barrel 7-08 Ackleys that get 3000fps with 140’s using 50gr of H4350, but that load is too hot in my rifle, stiff bolt lift.

Thank you Bruce!
I just got my first 20 rounds fire formed and ready to load some. I had a recommendation of using varget and was looking at 140 accubond/ballistic tip. I appreciate you sharing the information! I look at the H4350 too.

N2 right now I'm just getting started. I was looking for someone that shoots the round and could give me some direction & advice.
Thanks

I don't know about the AI version, but Big Game powder woke my regular 7-08 up. I shot 3 bucks this year with the 120 grain NBTs load. I was really impressed with the 120 grain NBTs.

In my Kimber Montana non-AI 7-08 version Winchester 760 and H414 (same powder) makes excellent velocity and accuracy with Barnes 120 gr TTSX bullets.
