looking for some feedback from guys shooting 245 Bergers.
Does a 9 twist barrel work?
And what sort of velocity are guys getting?

A 1 in 9 works perfect for the 245 EOL! You can run them around 2750 out of a 300 PRC with a 26" barrel. There are guys pushing them above 2900 with the 300 Norma Improved and 300 Sherman Magnum!

Holy crap 3200 fps! Ill bet they do
Do you feel a 9 twist prc would be up to the task of sending them 2850 ish?
I really don't think there is an advantage. Since the 300 PRC is pretty much a ballistic twin to a 300 win mag, I would load the 215's at close to 3K and never look back. Inside the distances we typically hunt long range, the added velocity with the 215 will win over the BC gains of the 245.

Yeah I ran the numbers with a 215 at 3000,
and a 245 at 2800.
The 245 drifts .5 minutes less in a 10 mph wind, has the same impact velocity, and retains 200 ft lbs over a 215
Plus that added mass should help break through a shoulder on a bad wind call..
Just my over analytical mind at work

That must be way out there. But I see what you are saying. I have more kills with the 215 than the 245, but it looks like they both get it done. What do those numbers look like at 600 to 800 yards? That is the average long range shot for us on elk.

I was bored one day and started running similar comparisons in my 300 WSM with a 215 Berger at 2790 and a 175 grain LRX at 3040. Remove the mono metal debate and enter the 175 -180 grain bullet of your choice if you’re anti-copper.

The 175 had 7 less inches of drop and 6 more inches of wind at 1,000. Although I like to be capable at 1,000 I can get closer most of the time, so in the 850 and in range, I can’t make it make sense to run the 215.

I’ve got a Norma Improved for true long range, in which I run the 215 at a mild 3130. I’ve killed a lot more animals inside 850 than I have past that, so for me in most instances that is a good range to use for realistic hunting comparisons. I’ve looked into the 225 ELD-M and the 245, but like Broz said, I just can’t make it make sense.

Sorry thats at 1000 yards, I've had shot opportunities on elk a little beyond that so just using it as a max baseline comparison.
Plus like I mentioned above, the extra mass is appealing
I've always been a fan of heavy for caliber bullets
