Anyone paying attention to Michigan?

Sure seems silly to me that the combo tag is unrestricted but single is APR for better age class. The loss of the January dates suck because that is when scheduling retail workers frees up. Great time to get in the woods for does without all the other hunters crowding it up. Overall perhaps a step in the right direction but seems to be a big compromise to not offend some too much and satisfy others some.
I think the weirdness on APR is the response to concerns about loss of revenue if hunters choose to only buy the single tag.

Not sure how binding this is with a 2027 start date, but if these changes do occur for 2027 I'll be buying the single tag in hopes of sending a message to the DNR that they will/did lose revenue buy taking away our opportunity.

I saw there was a NRC meeting this week, I was not able to watch it. Any changes or updates with these wild deer regulation changes they pulled out of their behinds last month?

No changes to the regulations. A number of people spoke during public comment sharing their views on all sides of what happened last month. Commissioner Eyster spent a while making a public apology (with plenty of hedges) for insulting hunters last month. You can watch the recording here (recommend 1.5x speed):

I've only been hunting in MI for 13 years and this state is so mismanaged it's not funny. I call it ballot box biology...not science.
Im in the restricted zone and will still just use my straight walls, if I even hunt gun.
Last year I stopped hunting by nov 1. Only deer seen were on the cameras at night. Bro in law stuck it out through gun and finally gave it up.
Deer are there but typical Michigan hunter shoot anything that walks, including on our property. Luckily most of the slobs sold their land and I know the new owners. Hoping to see deer during the day longer into the season.
Oh and I mainly shoot doe, only shot 3 bucks in the 13 years....by choice
OBR/APR doesn't bother me neither does the rifle changes.
I do think they should make changes for various zones, etc not just a blanket change that covers big areas of the state as 1 lump.
To bad they couldn't use real biology to figure out game rules
