going on a 7 day backpack rifle hunt this fall. Mostly dense woods, so it’s unlikely I’ll see a shot over a hundred yards.

I’ve been planning on take my bolt action .308 but I feel like the 4-16 scope is too much.

I hadn’t considered hunting with my AR, but it seems well suited with 300blk and a 1-6 LVPO. Opinions?

Sounds like a good idea. Use barnes 110 TSX. Pretty savage round for deer. Easily a 150 yd setup too. Buddy of mine has flat stacked the hogs with it in Texas.

I have experience with Fiocchi 125 SST and it works good. I've heard that the 150 fusion works good as well (gold dot bullet). The barnes is also the go-to for most. I think any blackout specific bullet design will work well within 100.

A buddy of mine has had his son use a .300 black out and he isn’t getting full pass thrus with it. In fact he is switching to the .350 legend after we had multiple pass thrus with it on Whitetails this past season.

It’s the Barnes 110 TAC-TX black tips. They penetrate and detonate. Never lost a deer I hit well.

I dont have a blackout but use a 357 mag rifle when hunting in tight areas. It has about the same energy and drops deer DRT. Think you'll like it.

I have harvested many hogs while shooting 220 grain subsonic suppressed out to 150 here in South Texas! Good Luck on your hunt!

.300BLK is a great whitetail round for 100 yards an in. My wife and I have shot 6 with that Barnes 110gr Tac-TX and it's performed awesome.

Shoot w both eyes open. Easier to place the x hairs on target in heavy cover, etc.

4 is good for close shots. 6 is good to 250-300.

I like 357 mag rifle for out to 100 yards. Similar to blackout. Have fun.

Barnes TSX is a great round.

Hornady also has a variety of options.

I have killed a pile of deer and hogs with a 300 whisper with the barnes 110s and
120s both flat out kill stuff.

Barnes Tac-TX.

I was with a buddy last year that shot one at about 30 yards or so. When we field dressed it, we saw the lungs were jelly.

Not sure if he was using the 110 or 120 grain.
