Anyone have a tricked out .22 pistol they hunt squirrels with.

Thinking of getting something like a bull barreled 22 with a decent scope. I think that would be a neat little setup for squirrels at fairly close range and maybe a grouse getter to boot.

Anyone care to show us a pic of such a weapon?

This thing has quite a few rabbits/squirrels accounted for. More fun than should be allowed. Have to get reasonably close but it is sufficient.

Funny, Ive had the same search going for a while. Currently carry around (my wife’s) old single six during the later fall and winter when rabbit is the only season open, but I’ve been coveting a 22 pistol. Havent found one with just the right trigger yet. The 41 is super nice, and a 617 is nice too, but I kind of have designs on suppressing it at some point. Are there good aftermarket triggers for the ruger markiv and 22/45? Edit—I see volquartson. Are they truly great triggers, or does it just turn it into “better”? I kind of want a gun with a “wow” trigger.

How is the accuracy on those rugers? I have a red dot without a home and was thinking a .22 or .22 mag would be a nice fit.

A friend has the pmr 30 and I love the weight but no optic mount there.
If I give up on a magnum it seems the 45 lite Is the winner

I have gotten pretty good at shooting squirrels in the head out to about 30 if I can get to a tree to get a rest off of. Could probably do better with a scope but I like the dot for plinking. I shot a rabbit in the back yard last fall at 60ish but that was off a sandbag on a table and was most likely completely luck.

No picture but I’ve been using an FN 502 with a suppressor and it’s movie quiet with the right ammo. I ordered a red dot for it a few weeks ago but turns out a Leupold is too heavy for it to operate correctly so I need to get a different one it looks like.
