Filled my Oregon tag @ 6:30pm yesterday. Just got back from packing it out. First bear I've seen all season but I've only been out 3-4 days until tonight. It was a medium sized dry sow that I was convinced was a boar. I definitely need to get better at gender ID/sizing up bears. Anything bigger than a two year cub looks pretty big to me.

This was in a foothill area around 2k so your mileage may vary if hunting higher up. Curious to see how the late snow dump affects things.

Bears are starting to filter out here in Idaho. The late snow on the 14th of April pushed some back into the den or prolonged then coming out for another week I think.

Been out in southwest Idaho for about 3 days and have only seen one bear so far. Still quite a bit of snow, and the weather has been rough

Found this guy Saturday evening. First action for the new 110 Ultralight 6.5 PRC. Super fun hunt.

What does the snow level look like? I have the same tag and going to Ches in 2 weeks. Hoping to get my 5th wheel up there as there's 4 of us. Any snow intel would be awesome!
For checking snow levels, the best thing I found was downloading the daily .kmz file and opening it with Google Earth. Obviously you'll need to know the roads and be able to recognize where snow drifts will stick around that impede access, but this is a good way to see how far the snow has retreated in the areas you want to hunt.

Appreciate the info! Just looked where we are planning to camp and still in snow. Depending on what happens over the next 2 weeks, we may have to figure out an alternate place to camp.
