Anyone else catch the eclipse?

Got lucky we were in the path of total eclipse today so I made a ghetto solar photography setup with a cut out lens from cheap solar glasses for my Maven CS1A spotter. It works alright for anyone interested in doing something similar for the next one in April. Just don't use it until the full eclipse or it'll melt the plastic and maybe ruin your camera.

I hand held some eclipse sunglasses to my phone and it did OK.
I wasnt in the full ring of fire range in the DFW area, we were just a little too far north

We had about 80% at our house SE of Seattle. The fog and clouds were obscuring a bit, but we did get to see it at its max. Pretty cool.

Thank goodness we had a little cloud cover, because I couldn't get any good photos through the digiscope without the light clouds. Here are a few I took in Utah just South of the Great Salt Lake. These "blue/grey" photos are through my Maven S2 and my iPhone 13. The amber colored one is from my phone with the "eclipse glasses" held over the camera lense.

Those are awesome! I like the white sun look.
I think the eclipse glasses lens made mine all hazy. The ones I posted are the unedited originals, they look more crisp after taking away some exposure. We had no cloud cover so I didn't want to fry the camera without a filter at 45x sunlight.

I didn't have a filter for the spotter, so I was really grateful for the cloud cover. These are all at 12-15x on the Maven S2 and my ScopeCam adaptor and iPhone 13. I haven't done any editing on the photos yet.

I was deer hunting in Idaho with my boy and I totally forgot about the solar eclipse. It quickly began to cool down quite a bit and was getting darker so it felt like a big storm was about to dump some rain or snow and I was questioning the weather forecast. Just then I had a friend text me on my messenger saying how cool the eclipse was and I finally looked up in the cloud cover and saw the eclipse! The cloud cover was just right we could see it without any glasses. It got dark long enough the deer started to get out of their beds and feed. I’m sure it messed with their circadian rhythms that day!
