Anyone done a Kuiu wrap on anything? Did you need permission?

So I was interested in getting my bass boat wrapped like this photo below minus the extra sponsor logos. I just wanted the Kuiu in the Vias pattern for my wrap. I figure I’d do the right thing and ask Kuiu for permission to wrap my boat with their logo and camo pattern. Well they got back with me and said absolutely not. They don’t allow anyone to use their pattern without a licensing agreement. I was pretty disappointed to say the least. I met Jason years ago before he passed at an outdoors show and he was a total stud. They sure have changed and not for the better in my opinion now. I’ve spent crazy amounts of money on their gear and wasn’t asking for a freebie or sponsorship money just the desire to wrap my boat with their camo pattern. Guess I’m done supporting a company that won’t support their customers. Not like they would care anyways. I’m a small fish for them anyways.

Photo of the wrap I wanted to do.

Am I justified at being bummed out about this or am I just being a little bitch.

Unfortunate on the passing of the “total stud”. (Not sure if that is the appropriate term for someone who committed suicide?)

Appears you have decided to purchase other gear moving forward based on Kuiu’s decision. Maybe check with each of the potential gear manufacturers if they will let you wrap your boat in their camouflage pattern before purchasing a single item.

Please update this thread and let the RS community know which company will allow you to wrap their boat (or other items) in their camouflage patterns. Would be helpful for all before making future purchases.

In any event - better sell all of your KUIU gear. ASAP.

I know. I realize I’m just being a little bitch. Just don’t understand why a company wouldn’t want free advertising.

Because they have a copyright to protect. Letting people use it, even for free, or non commercial use weakens their claim to it.

If they let people use it, it opens the way for another company to copy the pattern for profit.
