Anyone been to Africa on a plains game hunt? Curious how long ya waited for your critters to come stateside. It’s been over a year now for me. Been told critters are ready but waiting on a purse I had made for my wife to get done. Been hearing this since September

Ours got to Chicago early last week from Namibia. We hunted the last two weeks of May last year. Our PH got the hides and horns to the taxidermist/expeditor in July of last year. Approx 10 mths. Got to our taxidermist in Kentucky yesterday.

I recall it was about a year to get mine. Minus my giant Impala that someone must’ve wanted more than I did…

I hunted with Motshwere 4 years ago and still don't have my trophies. My friend got his after 3 years. They used to be pretty quick when they used Swift Dip, but they started their own in house dip and pack called Preymentos. Since then, a lot of people aren't getting their stuff for years and when they do, they often don't get the right trophies.

Than you. Not what I wanted to hear but not much a guy can do about it I suppose

I went not long after you posted this. I had a decent enough time, however I will say I left with some "yellow" flags about how business is done at this particular outfit. There were some weird things that happened and something in my gut just felt a bit off the whole time. I will say Preymentos has been very good about sending out updates so far via email however I will keep you posted on if/when I get my stuff back. Like you said, not much a guy can do however I went with a big group and a lot of $$$ was spent at both the main outfits desk and the taxidermy. I can only hope they hold up their end of the bargain...

Been 11 times probably sent stuff home 5-6 of those times. Anywhere from 3 months to 15 has been my experience.

In Namibia two yrs ago. Took around 9-10 months for ours.

Be glad you got your animals! I went to Africa 10 years ago and the outfitter tried to extort more money from us when we got back stateside and never did ship our animals to us. Prior to going over, the outfitter had phenomenal bowhunting reviews, they went out of business in 2-3 years after we had been there. After that experience, I have no desire to ever to back to Africa.

Back in the 80's, I went to Botswana and hunted with Hunters Africa, with the the late Gordon Cundhill as my "pro". Cundhill was a very impressive man and his operation left nothing whatsoever to complain about.

I went with Hunters Africa twice. The first time, it took me 4 to 6 months to get my "trophies." I don't remember, exactly, but I do remember that how long it took me to get them was exactly how long I was led to believe that it would take. Mine were simple "dip and ship" affairs.

The second time, I didn't bother. In my office, I have the rack from the first deer I shot as an 11 year old kid hanging on the wall, but aside from that, I'm not really in to decorating my house with dead things (nothing whatsoever against those who are), and probably wouldn't have the rack from my first deer hanging above my head right now if it weren't for the appreciation I have for the effort my dad put in to making the mount of it. That stuff I had shipped from my first trip to Africa just rots away in boxes. The photos of the trips mean more to me than the hides and horns from the first trip do.

From what I gather from people I know who make hunting Africa a habit is that 6 to 10 months is pretty normal wait time for arrival of hides and horns.

I hunted in S Africa back in August of ‘24 and my crate is finally getting ready to ship in the next week or so. This is for finished taxidermy.
