Bar, heal quickly my friend!
Dreaminnbig, Thanks, don't be far from a phone! (grin)
Bails-UK, thanks bud!

Well this thread has humbled me. People dealing with injuries, planning from another state or continent, here I am complaining about snow and only live 3.5 hours from my unit.
Yes I am excited, but have too much going on, hopefully it doesn't sneak up too fast before I'm ready. Last year had a huge change of plans due to my partner injuring his knee. We still filled our tags but missed the back country adventure.

Hey Bar
I am going to be in your area in Late June. I will be chasing a toddler and carrying an infant but I hope to get to a few quiet high mountain streams. Love that area. Been every Summer but two since i first went 7 years ago. Wifes family has been camping up around Mt Princeton/ Chalk lake for over 50 years.
As for the original topic. Yes I am pretty stoked for September. This will be my second time elk hunting and I feel like I learned a bunch the 1st time and figured a few things out. This year maybe I will at least have a hard time breathing a few times. (because of the elk not the elevation LMAO)
Wish I could . I'm jealous of a co-worker who is 45 min from his base camp. But with out an invite I won't impose on his unit. You need to move closer to the hunting area. I can get to mine in 5 min. Which is why I don't need to camp. Sure makes it easier for this old man.
All this elk talk is getting me pretty stoked up. If any of you CO boys on here are familiar with Unit 4, plz hit me up with a PM. I put in for that Unit draw and have been studying some maps. I have a few questions.
Bails-UK, I ran into a very cool Youtube video last week that featured 3-4 UK guys that were chasing elk in the Rockies. Sounded like one dude was SF military. It kinda set me back when they were asked about, and explaining, how hunting is illegal in the UK and that even bows are "prohibited weapons". I was like "what the f'ck!!". Made me feel proud and very appreciative of the good ole USA and the incredible freedoms and hunting opportunities we enjoy that are easily taken for granted. Best of luck to ya this Fall. Dan

Well the wedding has past and the honeymoon is over, then the wife says "you going to get ready for this Elk hunt"...... one word "keeper". This coming trip has been a lifeline for me, got my mind off things and give me something to focus on, the last 9months have been an absolute rollercoaster, but having something to concentrate on, other than the wedding, has helped out no end. I've been gathering kit and info, keeping fit (Christmas bulge got carried away) and being out of work didn't help, but that's getting sorted by Shaun-T Insanity and Running. What are you guys doing in your build up to September?
Don't vote for Hillary if you want to keep it that way.
Yep, that was us in Elktour 2, hopefully this is the year. Funny but I cringe a little when I watch that now, sure Bails does too.
We are working on the legality side of things and the wheels are slowly turning.
You are right, your freedoms, Country, and hunting opportunities are great, guard them well.
