Any union crane operators around billings or Missoula

I’m looking to move out west from Michigan. I was planning on Wyoming and bought property out over by Riverton but I’m thinking work wise it makes sense to me to move to Montana instead. I called the local hall and was told most of the year round work is around Billings and Missoula. Seeing if there any union workers on here hopefully some crane operators at that. Thanks in advance.

If these stupid wind farms actually start going in around here Wyoming will have some crane work for a few years, you just missed most of the big building at UW in Laramie. The cranes were interesting to watch.

You’re reaching pretty far afield for union jobs. The south and west generally run business on profits and losses.

You may find union-only gigs n the cities, but they won’t be long-lived.

The rust-belt is where you’ll find the most stable work.

I heard about that! But unfortunately i wasn’t ready for the move. I’m planning on finishing up an outage here then saying screw it and leave. When i talked to Wyomings local they said I’d have to travel quite a bit which i kind of figured. Montana local told me Billings and Missoula generally have year round crane work and could be home everyday. I don’t mind traveling some and i have before just wouldn’t want to do it all the time.

I’m shooting for the moon i know it but i really actually just want to move to hunt more honestly. I do have a cdl and such so i know i could get work. I have every cco except tower. My career has been mainly steel and precast.

I've done jobs in Missoula working out of the spokane local when I was on the road. I'm packing the same certs and never had any issues finding work west of Missoula.....I took a withdrawal in 2012 and shifted to hydro so my experience is up to that point.....but I still get calls asking for help.

I don’t know anything about crane work but I worked with a kid that his dad was a crane operator and lives in south eastern part of Wyoming. He travels for work, most of it being in SLC area.
