Any Real Life Experiences with the Leupold BX-5 Santiam 10x42?

I've looked through them twice, once in the store and thought they were underwhelming. So when one of my hunters had a set on an elk hunt, I gave them a shot for 20 minutes one afternoon.. Still not impressed.

For the money, I'd get the meoptas or something that's actually worth the price of admission..

Edit, I only used the 15's..

Thanks for the input. I can get a super good deal on these...would you say they're better than Vortex Razors? Are they worth 600?

I have a set of the 15s and had a set of the razor 10x50. IMO the Santiam glass is better than the razors especially in low light when looking at color contrast.

The razors I've handled as of late have been all over the place QC wise, I'd seriously consider the Meostars/euros for darn near the same money.

Good to know, I have actually been deadset on either the Meoptas or Nikon Monarch HG's. Its just so hard for me to walk away from a deal.......

I doubt that it will have real „edge to edge sharpness“, and I think (this is a guess, not confirmed knowledge) that it‘s not a flat field bino either. Correct me if I am wrong.

Compared the BX-5's to nine other $1000 binos for about a week. Agree with what is said above for the most part. I liked the Conquest HD the best for optical clarity. Also liked the Nikon HG and Razor HD (at least in the set I have). Conquest beat them both though. BX-5's IMO weren't as good.
