took the wife and young pup into a USFS rental cabin this long weekend, made carrying supplies (and said young pup!) much easier ~ 7 miles in on snowshoes

of course rest and recovery called for after

Just got back from a ten day winter camping excursion in Oregon. Pulled the sleds in with a load of goodies! I'll have to post a few of the pics up in a bit.

I'm partial to Northern Sled Works out of Fairbanks, AK. We have a 4' that goes on multiple cabin trips a year. Likely going to get a 6' for next years trip for me to pull and the gf can pull the 4'. Tough sleds. I've pulled it over tundra and gravel quite a bit; can't hardly tell. Check them out if you're ready to upgrade from a Paris...
They also happen to make just about the best snowmachine sled you can buy.

I have been working on a couple pulks for my wife's copper river bison tag next month. I think they should be light and roll up to fit in our back packs. They are four feet long by 16 inch wide with 4 inch sides.

I am going to use ropes because we are flying out in a super cub. Not to sure how long of poles I could fit.

Maybe short aluminum tent pole sections or conduit the same length as the sled rolled up, clipped together with cotter pins?

Or a cable and a nut like an avi probe?

That would actually make a pretty sweet set up. Whole thing could roll up pretty tight, would fit inside a pack strapped to the outside. Throw a light harness into the rolled tube and your set to easily fly and pack with it till you need it.

Reviving this up...

I’ve got some questions. Anybody can weigh in. Just looking for insight.
1. What did/would you cut the sheets with?
2. How did/would you fold the sides?

I used shop scissors to cut the material and a heat gun with a couple long pieces of angle iron built into a brake. It was pretty easy and worked extremely well.

Pretty much. Mine was already somewhat built for sheet metal. That would work great.

Alright, thanks! I just wanted to make sure because a 24"x48" sheet of UHMW is like $45 bucks. I don't want to screw it up when I could just buy an economical sled and call it a day. It is a similar price point to a Paris, but I like that you can roll up your version if so inclined. A Northern Sled Works sled is over $300. No way I'm going that far.
