Any of you all have a 2017 or so Ram 2500 with the 6.4L gas?

For those of you that have changed tire size and NOT adjusted the speedo, do it. You will see a meaningful increase in real mileage. I used the AEV procal. Letting the computer know the actual tire circumference adjusts things in some way that I don't know enough about that you will see a real improvement in the way the truck drives and the economy.

This has been the case on every late model Ram I have had for the past 10 years. 4 trucks. 3 of them HDs.

Fill it up and drive , then fill it up again and use a calculater. The dash computers have a tendency to exaggerate.

My hunting buddy had a brand new 2017, 3/4 ton, 4WD w/6.7 liter.
Kept telling him he needed to look at a diesel because he did alot of driving.
I rode in that truck several times. Just going down the road, the danged thing was constantly shifting! (?) Made no sense because it was an automatic.
Less than a year later, here he comes with a diesel!
The other truck was a real gas guzzler....and the constant shifting was irritating!

4500s will have small tires and super low axle ratios. They get crap mileage no matter the brand.

I won’t disagree with that, and don’t expect a truck with a lot of idle time to have good mileage. Still doesn’t help the fact you put a trailer behind it and it won’t pull itself out of the way.

2023 Tradesman 2500 with 6.4. Love the truck. Just did a 300 mile road trip this weekend. A mix of steep grades and flat highway miles. 75-80 mph, even up hill.

14.2 mpg for the trip. Can't complain.

Towing my utility trailer with the UTV, getting around 10-11.

Not trying to fool myself it was built for gas mileage and getting all worked up over it.

A TRX was on my bucket list, but I think you've cured that itch!!

i have a 2013 2500 5.7 hemi and at not even 120000km they have to redo the engine (maybe put a brand new one on it but will see) it was a bargain when i buy it and i had a camper to haul not anymore so once the extended warranty is gone the truck will not stay and no one will cry.

I had a 2017 loaded Power Wagon (6.4l Gas). I put 35000 miles on it without any issues. It was super comfortable and plush. That said the gas mileage was atrocious (single digits was a normal occurrence). Setting the cruise at 80 would frequently result in MPG of 6, 7, 9 I used to send pictures as a joke. One time it was 3 MPG with a trailer on a grade. It was also gutless with anything hooked to it.

I sold it due to the small tank. I know it seems stupid, but I live in MT long highway drives that transition to long FS road adventures are the norm. I constantly had fuel anxiety. I am also not sure how the truck would have held-up long term as I have seen a few of my buddies struggle with Ram gremlins.

I am not an MPG snob either. I have always owned sucky giant motors which is why this one stood out so much. I may have felt differently if it came with a 40gal gas tank with the illusion of more time between fill-ups.

My youngest has a 2017 (?) Ram 1500 with the Eco-Diesel. One runnin' dude!
Then....all hell broke loose! It was absolutely a comedy of errors! In a dealership more often than out!
They sent a recall and when the kid took it in, they had not even MADE the parts to correct the recall!
Had it been me, I would have figured out how to dump that ready-made pile of manufactured grief back into the "used car" market, but the kid persisted.
The dash looked like an over decorated Christmas tree with "idiot lights"!
About 4 months ago, the kid was notified that parts to correct the recall, issued 24 months earlier, were now available.
BACK to the dealership....AGAIN!!!!
THIS time, the recall was corrected, the Christmas tree of idiot lights was extinguished and the little truck runs like a top.
My biggest complaint with current diesel engines is the DEF. Useless governmental intervention and regulation.

....and I run "farm" diesel on my old truck!
