Anyone from SD know when the pronghorn rut usually hits? I am planning a trip for this fall for archery hunting and if possible would like to time it around the rut.
Typically see the first fawns around the 15th to 20th of May. That'd put the first breeding around the 15-20th of Sept, giving 235 plus a few days for the hiding phase. Rutting activity will start well before that.
Luke knows everything about the antelope. Nobody could have said it better! The 15th through the 20th is when I always see you the most aggressive rutting activity .
Hardly, I gotta learn how to kill those big ones like you.
You can get some pretty aggressive actions earlier than the 15th or so, but they generally lose their minds after that. However, often times bucks (and does too) are so used to seeing decoys that they can get a little shy. Decoying is as much about tricking the does as it is the bucks.
