Another vehicle suggestion thread

Lexus GX. 2010-2022 GX 4.6L motor has been in Tundras, seqouia's, Land Cruisers. They're really a gem in the used market. 4Runners are more desirable for the overlanding bro's, so the GX is often overlooked. I got a 2015 with 72k miles for less $ than a 4runner of the exact same year and mileage.
That was a great deal. The Lexus GX is a hell of a vehicle. Well done.

How many miles on the Tundra?
What kind of shape is everything else in?
Everything else is good, just little stuff I don't feel like messing with like the speakers go in and out, the sunroof motor is out and trim is peeling. Mechanically is tip top though

Was that quote to fix everything or just the frame?

And was it to fix the frame or replace the frame?

Where are you located?

So my beloved 05 tundra just got a quote for 7k to repair the rusted frame sadly. Unfortunately I just put new tires and did the timing chain. I also have a 2014 crv for my daily driver. I don't think I'm gonna put the $$ to fix the tundra, so I will need a new set up. I use the truck for hunting, camping hauling kayak, mountain biking, mostly forest service roads, definitely need 4wd and some clearance.
My current thought is sell both and get a newer midsized pickup like a Colorado or frontier. Should I look at other options? Nissan has 0% financing on frontiers right now.
Could you better describe the rusted frame situation? Is it in a spot that makes the vehicle unsafe to drive?? What caused it? I've heard of vehicles up North rusting out due to use of road salt in the wintertime. Similar with you??

It’s a tough situation and I’ve been in a comparable one before. That being said, there’s part of me that thinks it’s worth 7k to not have to drive a modern turbo.

This was a known problem due to the lack of coating on the frame in Toyota pickups in the early 2000s up to around 2010. They usually rust by the leaf spring perch at the rear of the frame and just below the cab mount by the trans and engine. The recall for the frame replacement has since expired.

Yes it makes them unsafe. I’ve seen the frames break in half.

Just the frame, would be fixing the frame where it is needed (rear, where the leaf springs are attached,) but also sending and coating the rest of the frame so it doesn't expand. I am in central VA.
