another tripod question

Looking for a tripod with a good head for under $150. I've found the vanguard 203 av. It's a 3lb tripod that folds down two 24" and comes with the pH 111v head. Any thoughts or experience on the setup? I only run binos when hunting but may have a spotter someday.

If you are only running binos, you could probably get away with a smaller tripod than that. A lot of guys seem to like the velbon ultra maxi tripod or the vortex summit. I didn't really care for the panhead on the summit though. I think the vanguard 111v is probably a much better head.

I just bought a shonfeld small carbon fiber tripod , love it 1.8 pounds, but put a 700 rc2 fluid head on it adittional 1.1 pounds , great setup 150 for tripod and 84 for head
