On another thread, @Iceman82 posted of his accomplishment of achieving his North American Super 10. Congratulations Sir! In today's hunting world that can be a very expensive endeavor, and even if you live in a state that has most of those animals, the competition for drawing tags for each of those animals can be almost impossible.
Like I posted on @Iceman82's thread, Montana has 9 of the 10 big game animal species that are required for the GSCO Super 10 Award. I moved to Montana 50 years ago, and back then the chances of drawing a Sheep, Moose, or Goat tag were way greater than those odds are today, and back then, resident tags for those animals were only $25.
Since moving to Montana, I have been able to kill 7 of those Super 10 animals (and multiple animals of most of those) here in Montana on solo DIY hunts that each only cost me a tank of gas for my pickup and a $25 or less resident tag. In 1980 I shot my first caribou in Alaska on a DIY hunt with several friends. Montana has a drawing for Buffalo tags, but I have not been one of the lucky ones to draw one. I fulfilled the Buffalo/Muskox slot of my Super 10 with a guided fall Muskox/Caribou hunt in the Canadian Arctic.
The last animal that I needed for my Super 10 was a Mountain Lion. I had bought Mountain Lion tags for many years, and I have even seen 3 lions on or within 1/4 mile of my own land, I finally broke down and bought a lion hunt with dogs in Colorado.
Also on @Iceman82's thread, there was a request for pictures of his Super 10 animals. Again, not to hijack his thread with my pictures, here's pics of the 10 animals that made mine...
