I've looked at most of the older sleep system threads, but thought that I'd see if anyone had some specific comments for me.

Thanks in advance.

I'm 6'4" and 260 pounds. I'm a side/stomach sleeper.

I will be buying an EE Revelation, but I'm still trying to figure out if I should go with the Long/Wide, XLong/XWide, Long/XWide or XLong/Wide.

In addition, I'm trying to figure out if I will be happier with a Therm-a-rest NeoAir XTherm Max (1 lb 7 oz, R 5.7) or the Exped DownMat XP 9 (2 lbs 9 oz, R 8).

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks!

If I was you XLong/XWide would be my choice, less chance for draft. Pad is more of a try it if you can situation because the baffles run opposite direction which change the feel. I'm personally happy with the XTherm's baffle design it works for me.

Good choices sure you'll be happy any direction you go.

We're about the same size, and have similar sleep habits. I built a quilt last year that is similar to their prodigy and is about 56"W x 90"L. The length was perfect so really wrap up and cover your head if needed. I was able to make it work this year, but I'm hoping to pick up a wider quilt for next year. Based on their listed dimensions, I'm going with the XLong/XWide.

I don't have any experience with the xtherm max, but I was not happy with my large xtherm. Even with the added width, my shoulders and arms would hang off if I didn't hold them in close to my side. Also, it's not as thick as some other pads, and I found that when laying on my side, I was nearly touching the ground. Upon returning from my first trip, I immediately sold it and found a good deal on an exped synmat UL 9 that is no longer being produced. I spent about 20 nights on that pad and absolutely loved it. I'm also picking up a BA Q-core to try out.

Some people buy the right pad on the first try, and others need a few attempts to get it right. Everybody is different, so you just need to use what works best for you.
