Another SA 30 Cal build

Hey guys im wantIng to build a 30 cal SA magnum. With lapua coming out with 300 WSM brass it seems like a no brainer. I am seeing threads with guys shooting the 210 bergers. I would like to stay in the 190-210 range for a SA Mag. Is the 300 wsm the better 30 cal SA mag cartridge? I see the 300 SAUM and 300 SS as well. Yes I know the oal restriction being a SA.

I could be wrong but I think the 300 SAUM would be easier to fit in a short action with the longer heavier bullets because of the shorter overall case length. I imagine speeds would be slightly lower but probably less than 100 FPS or so. Easier to find brass or just buy factory ammo for the WSM.

I say lapua brass makes the wsm a no brainer.

Imo, your handicapped by trying to shoot heavies from a SA. Get a long throated 300wsm and go LA if necessary. Just losing too much powder capacity for heavies.

In a Sammi spec I'd look hard at the 185 Berger.

I have a 300 SAUM Improved that has the same powder capacity as a 300WSM and I get 3000fps with the 185 Juggernaut in a 21” barrel using RL26. Expect 80-100 fps less with “temp stable” powders.

With a BAT short action or similar that's cut to accept UM's detachable mag systems they have a SA mag that allows an OAL of up to 3.150 which should work with a 300 WSM and Berger 215's. I'm using a SA BAT Igniter w/UM's detachable setup with their Short XL mags in my 25 SAUM build for the long 130's class bullets.

Not trying to post of topic or bend the rules, well just a little - but FYI as a FNG I'm in the 7day wait period and will seek to message you once I've passed QC for the classified, looking at your Jefferson Outdoors bottom metal but this seems to be the only way to let you know my interest atm.
