Any info on Rick Hoskins with Hunt Alaska Outfitters?

I did a fall brown bear hunt with Rick two years ago. Very knowledgeable, hard working, organized. Camp was good.

Unfortunately the only bear we saw was on the edge of camp the first morning just prior to shooting time

I got that email too. Unfortunately its an early season hunt. Sept 21-29. The hair is not long then

Yes it is! I’ve been with them three times, earlier than that. Long hair for sure.

Late Sept hair vs late October hair is not much different in the areas LDO operates. It's a non issue as SD noted.

Now, there is a difference between Sept/Oct and Nov/Dec

Well unfortunately I wasn't lucky in the draw. I'll be back in next year I guess.

The hair don’t get longer and longer all winter. It does have a max length. Glacier country goats usually have good hair in late sept.
I’ve shot several February goats and their hair was worse than any Sept goat I’ve ever shot.

I did not draw this year. Maybe for the best as my ACL ski injury is not healing as quickly as I had hoped for. Also I’m pretty full this year between California deer, Montana Pronghorn, Nevada deer; and, New Mexico Elk. And I have a CA pig hunt day after tomorrow!

Hello All,

new member / poster here.

I’m also looking to book a 27 or 28 goat hunt. It’s been interesting to research as I learn about wide range of terrain, hunting styles and outfitters for goats.

I’m not a terribly experienced hunter but I’ve been on one Dall Hunt and really enjoyed traveling on horseback. My pops and his buddies used to pack into the Bob Marshall every year, so I think there’s definitely a connection there for me FWIW.

Looking for any outfitter recommendations for a traditional horseback hunt.

I’m not looking for a trophy, just a nice representative billy is fine. Like most of us, I’m searching for a solid adventure/experience more than anything.
