Only a couple million people disagree with you but whatever you must be RIGHT because of your extensive research

I am a member of the church (active) and he is not wrong. Everything he said was true. JS and BY were dirt bags. You should pull up the gospel topic essays in your church app and read them. Both did horrible things.

All I want to know is why are so many shows filmed like this now? The color is changed to make everything bland, as if people didn't see in full color back in the day. What's the point of color televisions if things are all gonna be in near-black and white?

The director was going for starkness and trying to make the viewer feel the cold. I kept getting off the couch to turn up the thermostat, so I think he accomplished what he was going for. They did the same thing in “The Revenant” In fact the feel of this reminded me of the revenant a lot.

I thought this was an entertaining and a well put together show and was somewhat historically accurate. There were inaccuracies like Ft. Bridger is in Wyoming and the Mountain Meadow Massacre took place in southern Utah, but both of those happend.

I'm suprised the LDS church put out a statement about this show, because I don't think they were really trying to make them look that bad (LDS statement).

It's Hollywood and everyone should know to do additional research if you really want to know anything, whether it is this show or any other topic.

I will probably get around to watching it. Historical dramas are right up my alley and often lead to additional reading.

I would guess that watching American Primeval to learn about Mormons, Brigham Young, or the various Indian groups potrayed, would be similar to watching a PETA video to learn about hunting. Other sources could be equally misleading about LDS history so choose balanced sources in your follow up research.

I disagree, Joseph Smith broke laws, was run out of practically every place he lived until a mob killed him, made up finding the gold plates, comes across like a snake oil salesperson.
Brigham Young had 56 wives and condoned the killing of people to get what he wanted.

Please name a religion with similar roots.
im going to assume you are kidding...name a religion that does not have similar roots..

Replace “Joseph Smith” with “Jesus” and it’s accurate until after the third comma.

Jesus wasn’t in it for money, women, or power, he just wanted to save our souls.

Tough to find a religion where the founder wasn’t in it for personal gain but Christianity fits the bill. Not saying that’s the current state of affairs, but it started pure.

I think its cute that anyone still believes in the white, bearded, middle eastern character named jesus. and of course the absurd story that come with that belief
