American Primeval on Netflix

Loved it. Seemed like the first show we’ve watched in a while that didn’t try to push on us who to view as “good” and who’s “evil”.

Anyone else think Costner's "Horizon" was a huge disappointment? Billed as the "best modern Western since Lonesome Dove"?

Dude Directed and Produced it.....you'd figure he could have written in a better hat and mustache for himself?

And how can you look at Luke Wilson and think anything other than "Old School"

Enjoyed Primeval tho. Hoping for second series
Open Range was tough to beat for Costner lately. Hopefully Horizon 2 has some redemptive qualities. The first one was terrible I thought.

Disclaimer: I prefer documentaries to dramatizations. And apologies for the unmitigated negativity, but...

This was one of the dumbest shows I've seen in a long time. It jumped the shark much faster than Yellowstone. I get why must people like it. But if you're the kind of person whose family has to remind you to be less critical of imperfect writing/directing so they can enjoy a show in peace for a change, do them a favor and zone out on your favorite podcast while they watch this formulaic mediocrity.

I loved "Horizon." Hope they finish the project

I enjoyed it a lot. Like most screen drama you have to suspend skepticism and disbelief sometimes. While it was based on a historic event they took great liberties in the interest of the plot. The number one job of a drama is to make the viewer care about the leading characters. They did a good job on that.

The details that bothered me were:
Arrow speeds around 700 fps from old wooden bows
Fish smoking in Indian camps were just rubber fish hung on a string
They would dig under the snow for fire wood instead of snapping dry ish wood from above the snowline
The general over the top level of filth and gore.

Caused me to research the Mormon religion, it's founders and what they did, pretty bizarre.
Reading “Under the Banner of Heaven” Krakauer points out that Mormon creationism is no more bizarre then other mainstream religions, just newer.

I disagree, Joseph Smith broke laws, was run out of practically every place he lived until a mob killed him, made up finding the gold plates, comes across like a snake oil salesperson.
Brigham Young had 56 wives and condoned the killing of people to get what he wanted.

Please name a religion with similar roots.

Only a couple million people disagree with you but whatever you must be RIGHT because of your extensive research
