American Primeval on Netflix

I just watched it. Really enjoyed it. So often while sitting at work I wish I had lived as a mountain man in those days. But man, the harsh reality of it isn't all just trapping, hunting and fishing lol

I liked the story, but the way that they filmed it seemed a little more “dark” than I think it had to be.
I understand that life back then was difficult, but for example the Pratt character running around for days with blood dripping down his face was a little much.
Also there was a scene where a man was skinning a deer carcass and blood was running down the body of the deer. Now Ive skinned many deer and that’s never happened to me.
I just wish it was filmed with a little more realism than the over drama of the gore.

I'm enjoying it.
Extreme mud, blood and rapid fire arrows make a better story than the usual Netflix formula. Kind of surprising.

Lots of good portrayals and action but not all was accurate. There was not real "war" between the Mormons and the US govt, or even a skirmish, but troops were called out. The Mormons involved in the Mtn Meadows massacre were NOT included in the pardon.

I loved how Jim Bridger was portrayed but didn't realize Bakelite pipe stems were prevalent in 1857 (they were not of course).

The ending didn't make any sense at all.

All told it was entertaining but depressing.

Come on, the beautiful, rich, big city girl coming home to visit her family and then falling in love with the plain looking middle class guy she thought was beneath her at first is a great story!

Anyone else think Costner's "Horizon" was a huge disappointment? Billed as the "best modern Western since Lonesome Dove"?

Dude Directed and Produced it.....you'd figure he could have written in a better hat and mustache for himself?

And how can you look at Luke Wilson and think anything other than "Old School"

Enjoyed Primeval tho. Hoping for second series

The Mt Meadows Massacre is a pretty fascinating subject. I had never heard of it until I drove by the site one day and looked it up.

The amount of arrows and the rate of speed at which they fly in the battle scenes makes me insane. That said I enjoyed it.
Yeah, one of the first things I noticed. Even commented to my wife. They must have all been shooting Mathews...lol.

Ive enjoyed it. It was pretty dark, but story was good. Kitsch did a good job. I didn't even recognize him at first.

I just though Horizon was all over the place, and I think Costner even said that to some extent as well. Supposed to come together in subsequent film(s). There was no flow and it was just a jumbled mess.
