Something to keep in mind all: if it's not grown, it comes out of the ground, and by locking up our resources, we essentially outsource our mining jobs overseas to countries with lower environmental standards.

Roger that KingGus. I've got all the new tech that require minerals and metals. I get it.
There are many places that have to be mined against public approval, perhaps. There are also places worth more to thousands of people NOT to mine and where exists tangible delicate resources worth protecting and certainly worth opposing. That is the Ambler Road proposal area.
IF Alaska had its own smelting and processing plants and kept the spoils INSIDE the US, then maybe a new mine corridor across Alaska would be a wise move. But this project doesn't fit and doesn't belong where it is proposed to be constructed, and it certainly will destroy the generational values it currently satisfies.

While this is not the final step—the BLM will issue a decision later this year—the hunting and fishing community should be proud of our positive influence on the BLM’s decision-making process. Thank you so much for your efforts!
Nearly 10,000 hunters and anglers have spoken out against the proposed Ambler Industrial Road and in favor of maintaining the remote character of Alaska’s Brooks Range. Our collective voices have helped the BLM determine that the risks of the proposed Ambler Road far outweigh any benefits, as indicated by the agency’s “No Action” finding in the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.
Our most important work is still ahead. It is essential that the agency continues to hear from sportsmen and sportswomen in the coming weeks to secure a conservation victory for the Brooks Range this year.
To leverage this exciting momentum, we’re asking our partners to help celebrate this milestone and urge your supporters, clients, and customers to sign our ongoing petition by April 30.
We’ve prepared an updated toolkit with everything you might need to spread the word, including draft emails, social media posts, messaging guidance, and photos. CLICK HERE for the toolkit.

As I assume most on Rokslide are conservative, we "got what we voted for".
Trump's EO "Unleashing Alaska's Extraordinary Energy Potential" puts the Ambler Mine and many other proposals back on the table.

Let's put millions of acres in jeopardy, 3,000 streams, countless fish and wildlife species all for some copper, that will more than likely be shipped over seas.
I voted for Trump, honestly I was extremely hesitant to - I had considered just not voting at all - but I felt guilty at the thought of not fulfilling my civic duty of voting, I didn't want to vote for Kamala either by any means, but about a week before the election I caught the Maga Bug - probably from the endless cycle of propaganda I was fed by Fox News. Perhaps in the future I will vote Democrat (regardless of how ridiculous some of their stances are on social issues, government spending, etc.) at least they aren't infringing on my right to hunt (well at least not in the majority of the country other than the far left states), and it doesn't seem like their gun policy gets much traction these days.
It's a difficult spot to be in for us sportsman, neither political party gives a damn about our interests it seems. The last administration closed off lands to non-subsistence hunting, this administration will do everything in their power to exploit those lands - while we may be able to hunt and fish, our opportunity and experiences will be diminished by these actions.
Hopefully Don Jr will come to the rescue as a voice for hunters and anglers.
So, what party better represents our interests as hunters and anglers? Honest question and am curious as to y'all's thoughts.

Tip of the iceberg unfortunately. This is one of a thousand cuts that will certainly have lasting detrimental impacts on wildlife, habitat, and our outdoor way of life. This administration is not pro anything but making money no matter the damage they cause.

Gross to think about supporting a Kamala type. But man, this administration sure is good at pushing moderates away. Literally trying everything they can to destroy habitat and truly the future of the outdoors

We knew this was coming with Trump as he did it in his first term as well - Bear’s Ears comes to mind. It’s sad that “conservative” politicians aren’t at all conservationists. I’m a moderate. I supported Trump’s campaign when he brought on RFK Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, and Elon but I knew public lands would come under attack. There are many other parcels up for grabs so this is just one of many battles we will have to fight to protect the land we love from the extraction industries. BHA has an action page where you can easily send emails to politicians in your state and at the federal level. Let’s fill those inboxes !
I worked on the ACOE project in Umiat in 2002. It was expensive and we never did meet the engineering goal. We were to reduce the amount of oil rising to the surface by excavating and burning off the soil and replacing it.
When we finished.....the oil leached right back to the surface. Odd since that's how oil was discovered there in 46.
Moderates are pretty much politically homeless at this point. Both sides are hot garbage.
