Am I the only one who hates RF pouches on Bino Harnesses?

wow. I would sooner leave my bow behind than my binos.
And I'd rather leave my bow behind than my bugle tube.

But I'm mostly hunting heavy timber where I can't see much past 50 yards. My Leica RF works fine for that if I need to see something magnified. I do take my bino's (8x32's) most of the time though. Although this year I have a pair of Zeiss 10x25's that I'll probably carry in my waist belt pocket.

Thoughts on the badlands xr with RF at bottom? I’m bow hunting this Sept. and thinking between the XR and a fully enclosed marsupial with RF pouch.

How about rangefinders with onboard ballistics? Anyone concerned with magnetic RF pouches messing with them? I believe it would only matter for extremely long range adjustments, so not super concerning under 500 yards?

I just use the Alaska guide creations hybrid max. My RF goes in the front pocket, and I have room in the bottom pocket for a headlamp, spare batteries etc. works great.
My release fits under the elastic on the lid, windchecker in the side pocket, tags in the back pocket. It’s surprising how much stuff I can fit in a pretty compact harness.
I have no idea why anyone would strap a bunch more pouches to the front of themselves, all those extra things look pretty bulky.

I run a marsupial. Their range finder slides very securely in the webbing after the buckle. Never had movement issues. Super quiet.

I find the tether more beneficial.

I have very mixed feelings on having my rangefinder in a pouch on my harness. It’s the best thing I have going right now

I do really like the clip that vortex uses on their rangefinder and have thought about trying to add it to my sig. I saw online where someone did it but I’m too scared to pull the trigger on drilling into mine

Always bothered me how the rangefinder pouch would flop forward on my marsupial. Tied some m90 cord to a kitty clip and attached it to the bino harness zipper. Makes the pocket less assessable, but I don't keep anything in there I need to get at quickly.

Original post pictures are gone.

But I built this when I saw it, and it’s all I use.

Never understood bulky bino harnesses.

Love it and it cost me about 20 bucks and an hour on the machine. Going on 5 years

I'm looking to make a new harness. Any chance you could post some pics of yours? Cheers

The Sitka bino harness I got has a very solid RF setup. It’s attached by Mille that has zero slop to it. To access, you flip the top cord and fold it down, where it stays via magnetic contact. This is incredibly helpful for archery because I can range and slip it back in easily without a floppy cover getting in my way.

I don't know why the current AI can't just make it so I can just look at something and think about ranging it and the numbers show up in my vision. Then none of this would matter.

Going on 7 seasons with this one.

Ingredients: elastic webbing, thread, plastic buckle.

No fluff no weight no bulk. Can shoot my bow in any position at any angle no interference.

Took about an hour to make.

Ingredients are cheap.

Key is getting the lengths of the lanyard of your binos, and the thin webbing that runs up your back correct. Elastic helps if you’re off a bit. But the point is to balance the weight so the binos don’t fall through while you’re moving around.

I have chased elk at a run, and binos and rangefinder came loose. But never walking.

Man that is slick! The more sleek the better for me. I went all the way down to 8x30's in the Rick Young bungee deal. Big improvement over a bulky harness to me.

Since i exclusively bowhunt RF binos are a no go for me. A stand alone RF is a must for finishing a stalk.
My solution to the OP problem was to mount the holder under the main harness body’s slide it in horizontally and it’s out of the way yet easy access

Getting away from RF binos and not liking the various pouches & attachments for a handheld, I ended up with the eberlestock Recon and am pretty happy with it. My Sig 5k rides nice in the front pouch and I can still get my NL 14s in the harness without much hassle . I did have to do some modifying to the side straps as I didn’t care for the front pull set up and I got rid of the inside tethers.
