I need a wood stocked 308 in my life, that will be a killer setup when all your stuff comes together. My first .308... Waiting for the SWFA 6x to come back in stock and for the .gov to reopen so I can get my AB A-10 that’s on order. May go with the SWFA 3-9 instead if the 6x takes too long.

Rounds 10-30 down the barrel at 100yd. Just cheap 150sp ammo to get my 100 rounds in before working up a load. Put 50x through it today and will probably be putting down the 6.5 pipe for a while…
Im curious what you did with your grip module?View attachment 952110
This is Sierra factory loaded 168 SMK.
Roger’s had them for $17 a box.
Probably didn’t buy enough.

Ruger Hawkeye hunter sure had my eye before I grabbed Sako 90 peak instead and had my little cry. Still want that Ruger though, for the kids of course.R

I really like my ab a10 on my 308
I got a lite and chopped to 20” out of box and it loved that 165 fusion, didn’t do 10 but it ragged holed 3 at 100 when testing 8 different factory loads and clear winner. It’s fast load too I thought at 2676 fps 5 shot. One of my kids used it for his deer a year or two ago and pinwheels the lungs at 70 and ran just about as far, fusions sure do shoot though.Tikka CTR .308

Fusion 165gr
10 round group today. This rifle also likes ELDX but I’m sticking with the Fusions for now. I’m average at best shooting .30 cal stuff but have been impressed with this rifle.

No doubt. Lobbin footballs. Easy to find the go no go. I chased .2 mil around for a bit at 600-640 and turned out my zero was the culprit. Doh. .52 g1 works good for me on 168 eldm at 2592 launch to there once I sorted zero and so chrony and published worked in end. But ~500 is in the easy go zone, 600 that wind only takes a puff to show you you better be only shooting at coyotes or perfect conditions if trying to fill a tag lol.Your experience matches mine with a short barrel and 168s. I spent a lot of time behind a 308 and the 168s, a short barrel and anything past 600 test your ability as a shooter especially in the wind. I do think it can be pointed back to BC truing so I’m curious if that’s what you see.
When I want to shoot 800 plus with my 308 I go 175s as it’s only steel I’m hunting at that point. I’ve neglected my 308 enough. I’m taking her to the range with the 6GT tomorrow!

How does this benefit you shooting? Not being critical, just curious.View attachment 952266View attachment 952267
I installed the vertical grip then cut and heated a the standard grip to attach to it.
Used a JB Weld 2 part epoxy to attach.
I wouldn’t hang the rifle off of the grip extension, but the 2 I’ve done haven’t broke off yet.
Made the grip more vertical and added just a touch of width.
I’ve got small hands and this was my cheap solution for trigger reach.
Best factory gun made IMO. Now, if they only made them in about 10 other modern cartridge offerings…Tikka CTR .308

More natural angle for my wrist and better placement of my trigger finger in the trigger. How does this benefit you shooting? Not being critical, just curious.
I would love a CTR in 22 ARC.Best factory gun made IMO. Now, if they only made them in about 10 other modern cartridge offerings…
Perfect! That's what I thought it was, just wasn't sure if you were using 2 standard grips or the vertical and standard. My hands aren't exactly small, but my fingers are fairly short and stubby so I have issues with trigger reach as well. This looks like a much lighter weight solution to how I've been modifying my grips until this point. Sorry to the OP for the slight derail.... let's continue on with all things .308...View attachment 952266View attachment 952267
