I’ve killed 4 deer I think? So far with the 165gr interlock sp, just was looking for something different to try! That was with 44.0gr of imr4064. Wanted a Varget load and had some 150’s to use up.

They won’t let you down. Kilt many a deer with the 150s. Exits at 340ish were massive

I picked up a .308 for my son to hunt with when he turned 12. Went with some 165gr accubonds @ 2650fps as an all around load for western game and it’s been fantastic. Hes on his third season with it and it’s been great for everything from antelope to elk. Absolutely flattens pronghorns

I do have some 165 and 150 accubonds. Was saving for an eventual possible elk load but I may need to try some out on white tail one of these years

I’ve been using the 150 grain Accubonds with 46 grains of Varget and have had great results.
I find the Accubonds very accurate and have taken many deer with them, and they have performed just as they have been described to.
I have shot the Interlocks in factory ammo to sight my rifle in when I first purchased it, and they were very accurate too, but I’ve heard they can be “explosive”, and can damage meat.
I don’t have any speeds on them yet but plan on going to the range today and I’ll get some and post them later.
This is a 150 Accubond that traveled the length of a Buck, from neck to hind quarter. 65% weight retention.

What made you guys choose the 155 TMK over something like the 168 eldm/tmk or 175/178 tmk/eld?

Not speaking for those guys but I wanted less recoil first and more velocity second.
The 155 gives me both in an 18” barreled rifle.
The .519 BC starting at 2728 gives me a 610 yard rifle at 1800 FPS.

My rifle is about 8.5 pounds with a loaded mag. 180’s aren’t fun.

ETA. Velocity numbers are at 1k feet of elevation.

That's what I was wondering, with a little higher initial velocity, especially in a shorter barrel, and the pretty high bc of the 155, if it ends up making up for it and still being a 600 yard rifle in the end.

Bingo. I shot my antelope at 543 and my cow right at 600 yards last year. Both moved into my freezer.

I made it to the range today.
Shooting the 150 grain Nosler Accubonds with 46 grains Varget, CCI 200 primers and Starline brass.
Getting around 2730 fps from a 20” barrel.

Sadly no.

I did recover the bullet from the antelope. It looked like a nice mushroom similar to any of the TMK bullets I’ve seen on here. It was pretty warm, so it was a hustle to get it in the cooler.


I shot my elk in the evening and preformed a gutless and quarter job. I knew it was going to be a long night (and it was) so I didn’t mess with the camera.


Perhaps this year I’ll have the opportunity to get some necropsy photos?

Another note to add on the reduced recoil of the load…I run a TBAC 7 and I can spot impacts with this rifle. It’s also very quiet when fired. My buddy named it the Whisper Kitten. When I shot my elk, the others in the heard looked at the one I shot when it dropped like, “what happened to you?”

Good work. I'm setup similarly with an 18" and a DA Nomad Ti and it's also super quiet. Currently running a different 150gr bullet, and spotting shots at 600 hasn't been a problem. I'll be switching bullets and was going to go to a 168 eldm, but may go to the 155 TMK. This really seems like a great setup.

I was actually pretty set on running the 168TMK, but then I saw @Fireflyfishing results with the 155TMK and could see on paper to the distances I was going to use them the 168TMK wasn’t really doing anything significantly better for my use case.
I will still load and shoot the 168 I have some hand, but rolling with the 155 this year since I have it dialed.

308 is still pretty new to me, acquired it last year from my uncle who hung up his hunting hat and gave it to me. So I’m willing to try whatever is working for guys.

Honestly, I think you’d be happy either way. The 168 SMK has been the mainstay in the .308 for decades. But…the tipped options have changed the game.

The 155 Scenar is also a bullet with a long and solid history on game at 308 Win velocities...

I totally agree I have no qualms with using either, I shoot a lot of SMK for practice.

Post up results when you get it put together that sounds like a cool build, proof hands down has the best looking carbon barrel. And from what I have seen they generally shoot well.

I have all of those options to try out after the season as well. Want to see if I can get that 178eldx to shoot.
