Thanks all.

Luke, that is a big part of why I write things like this up. Last year my wife sent the link to her whole family, and her grandfather got a huge kick out of reading it. My family does as well, so I can send them a link and they can see what I've been up to. It is nice to tell the story once and get it all down, then add a couple of pictures to illustrate better.

I used to keep a sort of diary, where I would note the location, date, what I was hunting, and a few details about how things went. I don't do that anymore, but I probably should... so many details get lost and replaced with useless work information.

Some great stories have been written by some guy digging a journal out of his closet and turning it into a memoir.. ;)

What did you think in comparison with the stone glacier to the barneys? Interested to here an opinion of a guy who has had experience with both with a heavy load comparison and it looks like you would be a guy to ask :) Congrats

I'm a lot more familiar with the Barney's, but I'm getting there with the Stone Glacier. The size of the Terminus and and lack of pockets did take some getting used to. By the end of this hunt, it was pretty quick to load/unload and get everything dialed in.

I've packed much heavier with the Barney's, so I don't have a direct comparison weight wise, but I'm quite impressed with the terminus for load carrying. I have done training hikes with 85lbs, and really liked how it packed. I'm guessing that the meat/spike camp was probably in that neighborhood or a little more, but of course never weighed it. I do find that it is more sensitive to how it is loaded than the external frames, but it doesn't take much to figure out.

If you are in Anchorage and want to load it up and pack it around for a bit, you are certainly welcome. Nothing beats seeing stuff first hand.

Awesome thanks for the offer! The only part I'm picky with is having a dedicated place for the rifle on my pack. Im not a fan of the kifaru gun bearer type or the system stone glacier offers. I have a barneys and a MR Nice 6500, both have awesome organization and dedicated rifle carries, so that is my main concern.. Also, i couldn't help but note your pictures look awfully familiar as i was in the AK range this august as well :D

Those pictures are not where you think they are. :)

I have the rifle carrier on the pack, and just run the barrel/forend under a side compression strap. No worries about it falling out that way - I had an episode with a gunbearer once too. I like the SG system better than the Barneys system for quick access, and think it is just as secure. I'm talking about the new(er) sleeve that goes under the right hand pockets on the barney's. The older leather and velcro saddle that bolts on is super quick, but not terribly secure in the alders.

I'll PM you a phone number...
