men, i've had a couple of aktos ,enan and i wished they would have worked for my old az but they were just too tight, how do you all feel about the soulo? (6',200#.sore back,L4.L5 ,blah, blah)
just need more room
tia

Have you tried a Nallo 2. It weighs about the same as a Soulo, but more room. I have an Akto and used a Nallo 2 last year. The extra room was nice.

+1.
Or, you van go with the Unna, I have it and love it.
But, as sad, the Nallo 2 is also a good tent, very good.

Soulo is pretty tight too. Soulo is a serious 4 season tent. Depending on what you need take a look at the Niak. Lighter than the soulo and has more room

I am 6' 1" and 185 and tend to bring more than I need and with gear in the vestibule and inside with me it is cozy but very doable for me. The high wind resistance and warmth combined makes it the most bomb proof shelter I've used. I trust it and really like it, but I haven't used any other Hillebergs before.

man muley , that is one swell picture but i'm old and can't stand being cramped any more, what were you chasing there?
torn between a nallo and the soulo but really miss my akto, i'm sure petra is pleased with all the hille talk:cool:.lol

Well, thank you BB. I was after mule deer in the Sierra Nevadas of California. It was about 9300ft and a storm came in early season and got about 12° F overnight with some hellacious winds. I was very comfortable and didn't get cold at all, happy hunter for sure! I didn't come home with a buck that trip though, like many others.:D

I love my soulo, I'm 5' 9", 185, and I think its pretty roomy for a single man tent. I love the door configuration, being able to roll both inner tent doors out of the way makes the tent feel much larger when your getting dressed, etc.

I used the tent for a two week mountaineering trip this spring and had enough room to keep my massive amounts of gear in the tent with me along the edges in stuff sacks and still fit a large inflatable pad, a foam pad, and a -25 sleeping bag.

The tent is super warm, and you have a lot of venting options with the full mesh and fabric panels on both inner doors and the roof vent over the outer tent.

The soulo is probably one of the most storm worthy mountaineering tents made when you consider the amount of pole and guy out support for the surface area of fabric and the tent dimensions/shape. Of all of the hillebergs that I have seen I think it is easier to keep the soulo pitched taunt if you guy it out correctly. I would take the soulo out in any conditions and not worry about it holding up if it was guyed out properly.

As far as weight is concerned, by replacing my zipper pulls with 1.5 mil cord, swapping out the guy lines and tensioners for lawson equipment 2mm/tensioners, and swapping to titanium stakes I got the total tent weight down to 4lbs 14oz.

This ^^

I had the Soulo for a while but for my uses I just didn’t need a dedicated 4 season so I went with the Niak. I’m really happy with it! Here’s a couple pictures of the Soulo.
