Flying to CO from NC for the last week of Sep to hunt GMU 25. Doing the drop camp thing to help with meat packout and processing. Question - has anyone ever hired transport from a hotel in Eagle to the trailhead and back? Rented in the past but hate spending the money to use an SUV for two days - park at the trailhead for six days - drive it back to the airport... Any input appreciated.

If the outfit doing the drop camp won't transfer for a fee best bet is the rental. I would be concerned about getting cell phone service at the trailhead to get return transportation. I flew into Montrose last year for a hunt and shipped my bow and gear Fed-x ahead of time. Cheaper and safer than the airlines.

I'd rather have a car at the trailhead... If something changes or you desperately need something, it would be nice to have the car.

Examples:
- Come out a few days early to deal with a family emergency or ...
- Get some injury that you need to get looked at in the middle of the night
- Get soaked to the core and want to spend a hotel night to dry out
- Need/want to go to town for some critical item
- Your bow breaks and you need to get to town to get it looked at
- ...

This is good input. Thank you.

Thanks for the helpful direction, cowboy. Was more hoping that someone knew of a service of some kind. Have used something similar for other types of travel.

10 years ago, I flew into Colorado for an Elk hunt. Dispensaries everywhere. I was shocked!! This was well before my state legalized pot. All the guides were not happy. They claimed people driving high all over. etc. Stoners not leading productive life styles, etc. So no, my hunt is not being dependent on some fly by night car service. I'll pay the extra few days to leave a rental at camp.

😆

Better not go to Alaska either. Too many of them damn potheads to have a good time.
