Ahh Oregon

Haven't they been trying to push this thing through for quite some time now? Seems I remember hearing about this before
Yes, the same people behind this version (IP28) tried previously to get essentially the same measure on the ballot (called IP3 and IP13 at the time). Those failed to get on the ballot due to lack of signatures. Each time the measure comes back, it's even more restrictive and has even more money/support from national groups like PETA. This one looks like it may finally end up on the ballot.

Oregon is California for people that don't like good weather and don't know how to pump their own fuel.

That state is hopeless. I had to live there a few years for work. Got to hunt and bag, perhaps the state’s best offering. a CA bighorn sheep. Glad when I got transferred out of there. Can you believe the 3 biggest counties make you pay a “Homeless Tax”? Wonder if it pays to help trade wolves to their libtard trading partner, Colorado.

Yep, several times. The bill is so wildly broad that it got some seriously funded pushback from every angle, since it would impact ranching, dairies, medical research... but on the other hand, that just means more time and money wasted.

Getting signatures for these things is a joke, I've run into canvassers for a few iterations of this bill and it's something bland like "do you support strengthening animal welfare protections?". It's real easy to get signatures for that, even though I would wager the VAST majority of signatures would not support the bill if it was explained to them for even 20 seconds.

Per the article, OHA is also supporting ballot initiative reform measures to bring us in line with other states.
