after I get to 10 years old I would just be guessing his age. I can’t see those annuli, but I can guess where they would be.

1. How old is he according to the biologists?

2. Am I seeing a false annuli in the year 4 growth?

There are some cheater ways to count rings year 4 is just longer than it is wide, and year 5 is just shorter than it is wide.

Ime, there won’t be anything close to the hairline until 8+, even at 8 years old there would usually be an inch or two of new horn growth.
