Front heavy buck means he's mature, 5 or older. I have a hard time telling age over 5 because if they reach that age, they're definitely old enough to kill. If I had to guess, him being a mountain buck, he's probably 6+ because it's not like he's eating beans and corn all year to get fat.

Same here, aging is something I am still getting a feel for. I was thinking his antler prime might have even been the year prior. Then again what do I know. I only found him last year so no history longer than that.

He’s looking plump and content. I’m guessing 5 on the age.

From the picture I’d say at least 5. Hard to judge more without seeing it in person. Looks fat and happy, so I’ll go with 5.

Not sure on MT deer- but anywhere one state or more to the east and hes at least 4. Huge body says 5 or older but his neck entry and rack shape would not be out of the question for 4 in areas i know

Concur with the others that I find it hard to tell a deer over 5. (how many of them even naturally live that long?!) Feels good that I guessed the same as most before reading ahead!

For me, it was the old man sag in the brisket and back. That's telltale.

In summer I had him at 4, in season I thought atleast 5. I also see the antlers and since id put him around mid 120s I wondered if he was older and his antlers had already peaked. I suppose this could also just be as big as he gets. I hope to get him on camera again this season if he lived.

I wanted to vote 5 but I suck at aging deer so I went 4 cause every deer I've ever ventured a guess at has been judged younger by others. Nice buck either way!

That’s what I thought too in Sept when I put that scar on his hump. Still feel bad about that one.
