Aftermarket rifle grip for child...

Think there would be any advantage to something like this on a Tikka T3X Compact for a 7-year old? Just more vertical. Seems like it might move his hand a bit closer to trigger, but it also makes the grip all together thicker, which might not be ideal for the distance his thumb will need to span.

If you are going to use the factory Tikka stock, this is considered by many on this forum to be a default addition. Myself included

The change in trigger reach/thickness isn't drastic imo, but it does create a more comfortable grip angle for some. Depending on kid's hand size, I would think it could definitely help (especially if not using a "thumb over" / wrap around grip technique). If not, it would be an easy sell to someone else.

10-4. He hasn't held the rifle yet, and won't until June 9. Just thinking it might be nice to have on hand. The gun also came with recoil pad extensions. Thinking I could always chop an inch off the butt, re shape the pads / extensions, and then lengthen as he grows. Would prefer not to chop it up though. Having parts on hand for present delivery a different deal, though. No real risk.

Well, I think that is before I used the JB Weld.
It doesn’t look like there is any in there in that picture.

And JB Weld may be a little misleading.
It was a 2 part epoxy that was JB Weld brand.

I think this is what I used. Or something close.
I’m sure any 2 part epoxy for plastic will work.

I’ll get some pictures of the finished grip tomorrow.

Hey, shooting that 22 cricket amazing it’s got 11 1/2 inch pool. This compact got a 12 1/2 inch pool. If not comfortable with it, I might go find the chopsaw on the butt and then breeze real etc..

Not so much I care about the $20 for that product or $29. Just wanna have everything on hand for his birthday in case he doesn’t like it we can start going to work that’s all.

I went down a similar train of thought for my kid.
Ended up with this.

At the end of the day, my daughter actually preferred shooting the 223 in a KRG bravo. Long trigger reach and all. The extra weight helped her feel more in control of the rifle I think.
