I have an old 1990s A-Bolt with the BOSS system in 300 Win Mag. It sucks to shoot it in the current configuration because of the noise, kick and muzzle rise. If I order a 9/16x24 to 5/8x24 thread adapter, will it be fine to put a suppressor on it? I’m worried that the alignment may not be perfect on the original threading and that I’ll end up with a baffle strike.

You will be fine, provided you get a quality adapter.

It will be fine.

Are you sure it is 9/16x24 muzzle? The M70 with BOSS I have is 5/8x24.

I’ve got a late 90s abolt II in 270 with a boss .. I think used a 9/16 - 5/8-24 adaptor on it. No problems

Just set up a good friend’s Browning from the same time period as the OPs. It was 9/16-24.

Good deal. That’s what the M70 was supposed to have, ordered a 9/16 HUB adapter, only to find out that it actually was 5/8. Shrug.
